Safety in our neighborhood is always top of mind.

Seniors and community residents came together at St. Mary's Center on April 14 to hear about Oakland’s revived Ceasefire strategy to reduce gun violence and improve community safety.

The Community Safety Meeting was hosted by the Working Group on Equitable Recovery: an informal partnership of St. Mary's Center, Hoover-Foster Resident Action Council, Satellite Affordable Housing Associates and West Oakland Neighbors. Approximately 40 Seniors and 20 neighbors heard presentations about the Ceasefire strategy that works to target violence-involved and at-risk actors in Oakland.

I had the privilege of speaking to a women's group recently and a member recalled having worn exactly this uniform -- well, with a different hat! Love our women leaders, past, present and future!
