May 20 is Mental Health Action Day. This year's Mental Health Action Day's theme is connection. For our Seniors, connecting through community plays a huge role in their mental health and well being.
While the pandemic was a difficult time for us all, Seniors were especially impacted by the effects of isolation. Reconnecting through our Community Center has meant a great deal to the Seniors of SMC. We are so glad to be able to enjoy each other's company again and support our Senior's mental health in person.

The SF Chronicle featured SMC Senior Advocates and Residents United Network members Judy Jackson and Willie Stevens in an article about Assembly Bill 1961. Assembly Bill 1961 would create a new online application system and state database of affordable apartment listings. We are so proud of the ways that our SMC seniors are sharing their stories and using their voices to influence state and federal platforms.
