St. Mary's Center Council of Elders president Keith Arivnwine and East Bay Asian Local Development Council staffer Annie Ledbury door knocked neighbors about community issues along the San Pablo Avenue corridor last Saturday as part of our work with the San Pablo Area Revitalization Collaborative.
We had 8 great outreach team members throughout the day from Hoover Foster Resident Action Council, Friends of the Library, West Oakland Neighbors, and 24 additional people signed up to get involved in protecting affordability for residents and small businesses, engaging new leaders, and improving well-being.
Formed in 2014, the San Pablo Area Revitalization Collaborative (SPARC) is dedicated to improving health and wellbeing of 8,000 residents living near and along 1.5 miles of the San Pablo Avenue Corridor and the surrounding neighborhoods in West Oakland. Our staff came together this week to celebrate the contributions of LaRue Betty Williams to St. Mary’s Center and Friendly Manor. In four years, her leadership has helped seniors to find homes & women to live in community at our Friendly Manor center on their own pathways. Best wishes to LaRue as she pursues her dream of supporting homeless veterans -- she will be missed!
Special thanks to the team who cooked, baked, and prepared the meal. Best wishes to LaRue as she pursues her dream of supporting homeless veterans to become and remain housed. "Plan A, Plan B, and a semblance of Plan C" is one of her favorite sayings -- she will be missed.
