Safety in our neighborhood is always top of mind.
Seniors and community residents came together at St. Mary's Center on April 14 to hear about Oakland’s revived Ceasefire strategy to reduce gun violence and improve community safety.
The Community Safety Meeting was hosted by the Working Group on Equitable Recovery: an informal partnership of St. Mary's Center, Hoover-Foster Resident Action Council, Satellite Affordable Housing Associates and West Oakland Neighbors. Approximately 40 Seniors and 20 neighbors heard presentations about the Ceasefire strategy that works to target violence-involved and at-risk actors in Oakland.

We don't want #WomensHistoryMonth to end without a nod to the rich history of women & femme-led work that has driven community service for decades. We trace our roots to the Sisters of Social Services and continue today under the guidance of majority-femme executive and Board teams. Thank you to the women who give back to the community with regular generosity and dedication!
